A big Thank You to Druidcast, Damh, and OBOD.

Ashes To Fields
October 1, 2009 at 9:38 am | In lyrics, music | Leave a CommentThe change in seasons from summer to fall is a mysterious time – in the northern hemisphere the leaves on decidious trees change color and ultimately fall as the season gives way to the cold death of winter.
It is at this time that the ancient Celts believed the veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead was very thin, and our Ancestors could walk the earth once again. Many believe this to be true today and cultures across the globe celebrate a day of the dead in Halloween or Samhain/Samhuinn.
Ashes To Fields is a song I wrote to honor this time of celebrating our Ancestors. To go along with this piece of music I am honored to share the photography and art of my friend Thomas Vacchino of Eye-Sore Design. (THE designer behind the Emily Jones Music logo and both of my albums).
This artfully done photo is of a headstone in an old cemetery in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This cemetery is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) cemeteries in the United States. It is a place where pilgrims that traveled on the Mayflower are buried.
A Measure Of Time : Thomas Vacchino

Ashes To Fields : Emily Jones
Ioho
A branch of Yew to the wise departed
A sword for our dead heroes of war
A hammer for the memory
Of builders that came before
Gifts from the earth
For our dead to dine
We remember you
Gifts from the earth
For our dead to dine
We honor you
Ashes to fields
In the bonfire’s light
We dance for the spirits
We dance for life
Ashes to fields
In the bonfire’s light
To the tree of the dead
Ioho

A special Thank You to Damh the Bard and Druidcast for including my little Herald Alban Elfed piece (the fujara instrumental version) on this month’s Druidcast (episode 30).
Druidcast is produced by The Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids. The podcast offers music, prose and poetry, and interviews with folks living the Druid tradition.
I am a member of OBOD, so for this reason especially I am humbly grateful my little song was included with the great Bards that are featured in this Druidcast podcast.

To learn more about Damh the Bard and discover his fine music (I am myself a big fan of his!) go here: Pagan Music
Also – I’d like to extend a special Thank You to Gypsy Eyes Curio for featuring me on the website in The Muse Corner. It is a pleasure and an honor. Thank You for your support!

Sunset On The Summer

Sunset On The Summer : Emily Jones
Sunset on the summer
Gateway of the Year
Lady of the Harvest
Her promise fulfilled
Sunset on the summer
Gateway of the Year
Light falling as the leaves
Golden memories
-Emily Jones 2009
Note ~ Instruments I play on this little piece: hybrid fujara, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and I perform vocals as well.
The Udu and percussion I’ve programmed.
I’ve been playing and exploring the fujara since March of this year. I’ve had the pleasure to play fujara on the songs “Stelae” and “Perspective” by my friend Jeff Willet. To hear these songs visit me here: ->click me<-

the new header that i have up now you might recognize, it is the image from the cover of my new album, Chimerical Illusion. i’d like to give credit for this image to my friend and designer, Thomas Vacchino of Eye-Sore Design.
all i did was take a small part of the whole image and add the script. it annoys me slightly that the script is off-center. i did that on purpose but now that i see it i think it will bother me. which means i will leave it just so that it does.
i’ve had people ask me what the image is on the album cover and i’ve have had all sorts of interesting ideas of what it could be. what it reminds me of is bundles of nerves that carry electrical impulses in the human body. but what it is actually is magnified silken threads.
about Chimerical Illusion : a full length studio album, an exotic fusion of rock and world.
10 tracks : Taos Dance, Awoken, Rose Adonis, Metro Gypsy, Curses, Drag Down, Aztec Moon, Say Goodbye, Cold In The Sky, My Angels

Herald Bath

Here is the new and improved Herald Alban Elfed, I’ve added electric and acoustic guitar. I haven’t extended the song yet, and I’m not sure that I will. Though I plan for it to be a part of a larger whole.
Herald Alban Elfed (instrumental version 2) : Emily Jones
And here is how Bubble Bath is sounding now. I’ve extended it quite a bit and added two more “movements” to it. They are itty bitty but they still move the song along so I get to call them movements.
